ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Our curriculum contains clearly-defined expectations for student learning, based on Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Social Studies Standards, and the Dominican Republic mandated curricula. Consequently, the school provides a highly constructive and competitive college preparatory program that meets the performance standards of local and international universities. Additionally, MCS offers college-level AP courses to high school students who are selected based on their high academic performance.

The school implements an eclectic approach to teaching based on constructivism, and provides students with a variety of educational opportunities to develop, integrate and apply newly acquired knowledge and skills.

At Mindful Community School, the faculty works collaboratively to create, develop and renew the school’s curriculum to meet the evolving demands of its students and of the constantly changing society. In order to accomplish this, the school monitors and adjusts its curriculum and instruction through results obtained from assessment data.

historia mschool

Mindful Community School emerged from a distinguished Spanish speaking school “Mi Colegio”, which has served the Dominican educational population since 1976 until 2020.  Mindful Community School is an independent institution officially founded as a private, non-sectarian school in 1996, that serves the Dominican and foreign population interested in a U.S. type curriculum.  It offers an educational program to Preschool, Elementary, Middle and High School Students.

We envision an evolving learning environment that reflects its international community, upholds values that promote effective relationships and maximizes the use of all possible resources to enhance the emotional, intellectual, social, aesthetic and physical development of its stakeholders.
Mindful Community School strives to create life-long learners who acquire the skills, values, confidence, and knowledge to live in a changing multicultural society.
Mindful Community School aims to develop a love for learning, a commitment to optimal academic performance, and high standards of character within an active and caring school community.
Our school  fosters a USA-type curriculum, values the culture of the Dominican Republic and strives to develop student awareness of his/her rights and duties as citizens of this country and of the world.
